ABOUT
BURNS:
There are three types of
burns:
* First-degree burns only damage the outer layer of the skin. Sunburn is
typically a first-degree burn. Lavender's claim-to-fame is burns!
In the event of a sunburn or any other minor burn, lavender essential oil can
offer excellent pain relieving and healing benefits.
LavaDerm is an excellent topical relief
choice - - - by spraying on immediately and continued misting of the area.
* Second-degree burns
damage both the outer layer and the underlying layer known as the dermis.
Usually blisters are visible.
Spray second-degree burn immediately with
LavaDerm Cooling Mist
and
continue misting when necessary to cool the area. Spray 4-5 times every hour,
and follow with 2-3 drops of lavender oil (lavandula angustifolia –
never a Lavindin, this will burn it further and make the situation worse)
every hour.
Thereafter, apply Lavaderm every 15 – 30 minutes during first day. On days 2
through 5, mist every hour and follow with 2-4 drops of lavender essential
oil. Gradually reduce to the cooling mist 3 to 6 times daily until healed. If
area becomes rough, tight or itchy ROSE OINTMENT is an excellent choice to keep
tissue soft.
* Third-degree are by far the worst burns not only because they destroy surface
skin but can deepen into underlying tissues. Be on alert for victim going into
shock and it is a good idea to seek immediate medical attention and follow the
health professionals advice.
In an extreme emergency spray Lavaderm on the burn every few minutes for the
first 24 hours to help tissue rehydrate, reducing scars for later, too.
Burns can
be caused from the sun, chemicals, electricity, radiation, or heat. Thermal
burns are the most common type.
Burns cause dehydration and for this reason they tend to swell and blister due
to the fluid loss from the damaged blood vessels. This is why it is important
to keep the burn well hydrated and to drink plenty of water. Inflammation often
accompanies burns, so dietary protocols can also be used to lessen
inflammation. Severe burns not only result in major dehydration, but mineral
loss, too.
In cases of serious burns, including full body sunburn, fluid loss can become so
severe that it sends the victim into shock and requires intravenous transfusions
of saline solution to bring up blood pressure. Plus excessive loss of skin can
be cause for infections to set into the body. For this reason, seek medical
attention if necessary as the individual may go into shock (be on watch). NOTE:
Inhaling the blended essential oil called “Trauma Life” may help to reduce
shock.
