Cooking with Essential Oils There are many ways to use Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils in the kitchen. Every dish will be enhanced by the addition of essential oils, and there is no limit to the number of new possibilities for culinary delights. They provide a soft, subtle aroma and flavor that definitely make it a preference to reach for the essential oil instead of the dried herb and everyone will enjoy the healthy benefits of the oil used! Essential oils used in cooking are very important because modern large-scale commercial production methods are robbing our daily diet of their natural ingredients and true nutritional value required for the human body to build strength and maintain premium health. Essential oils contain vitamins, nutrients and trace elements, which are far superior to any artificial flavorings. They also provide natural preventative care with their antibiotic and other medicinal values, as well as some essential oils having a psychological side. Essential oils for the kitchen come in four main groups – herbs, spices, citrus fruits and flowers. They can be used in soups, marinades, sauces, meat dishes, casseroles, salad dressings, on vegetables, in breads, cakes, cookies, desserts and in teas. Essential oils make a delicious contribution; however, they are very strong oils so be careful not to overpower your dish. To enhance the flavor of stir-fry vegetables just one drop of an herb essential oil is sufficient. Using essential oils in cooking helps with the natural digestion process. One of the advantages of using essential oils in cooking is the fact that they are very cost effective. A few drops of lemon essential oil is cheaper than whole lemons and will be far more flavorful than if it was made with lemon juice alone. Some HELPFUL HINTS: v Try adding sage or rosemary to a bread mix v One drop of lemon in with pepper before spreading on meat, chicken or fish v Whisk ginger, peppermint, or rose essential oil into Vanilla ice cream v Any citrus essential oil may be used in salad dressings, marinades or desserts v Lemon butter works wonders with vegetables or fish v Try ginger butter on green beans or peas v Make your own wise concoctions of hot or cold tea drinks v Add herbal essential oils to salad oils and vinegars v Whisk rose or tangerine into cream cheese for dipping strawberries v Dip clean toothpick into bottle of Peppermint and stir tea or chocolate v Add Spearmint essential oil to cold drinks or teas
