The Home Office Deduction

Writing off expenses at tax time can save you money, so every user of nutritional supplements (since insurance coverage will not cover true well-ness) should consider having a home-based business in this field!

Taking a home office deduction is free.  And unlike years past, home based offices no longer send up that red flag.  This deduction is yours for the taking if you set up and use a room in your house or apartment for doing the administrative work of the business.  Young Living Oils are rarely sold in stores, so they are the perfect home business!

Here are some major advantages when you KEEP YOUR RECEIPTS:

Since you cannot diagnosis, prescribe or treat.....you can only sell your products through your own personal testimonials.  The first time you buy ANY YLEO product  - - - that is your personal business "Sample".  If you purchase oils to share or for "Samples" these too can be written off.   Your diffuser is a necessity for demonstrating aromatherapy!

Combine pleasure with business travel.
If you do any vacation traveling, consider doing a portion for business.  If you go away for business, think about including a pleasure portion.  Plus, YLEO always has fantastic "Conventions" or offers cruises to exotic places.  If more than half of your time is devoted to business, you may deduct transportation costs (plane, car, rental, gas) and any business related expenses (meals for entertaining clients).  The point is to take advantage of all potential deductions.  Just keep good records!

Seek out other expenses.  Have you bought any health related business books this year?  Do magazine subscriptions help you communicate with your clients?  How about that new computer, website, office supplies?  Is your cell phone primarily for work?

Simply set up your home office.  The old IRS rule said a home office had to be a principal place of business - - - the new rule (2006) says if you do significant, administrative work regularly and exclusively at a designated space in your home, even though you have an office at your regular workplace, then your home is your principle place of business and you can take a home office deduction.

If you are doing all of the above you can claim the full Section 179, maximize your tax-deferred retirement, vehicle mileage and expenses, and more.
